Family and Career

Family and Career

Professional challenges often compete with private and family interests. Our institute and the Max Planck Society therefore offer extensive support to ensure that the two can be successfully combined. In our working culture we take the needs of our employees into consideration.

Both male and female scientists at all career levels can be eligible for financial and logistical support from the institute and from the Max Planck Society. The Max Planck Society launched a new initiative in 2017 to provide childcare program support payments to doctoral students and postdocs. For details, click on these links: Flyer_EN

Parents and expecting parents can also apply for supplementary child allowance or use facilities offered by pme Familienservice.

The Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard Foundation additionally offers stipends for young female scientists who wish to pursue careers without major constraints on their family life. Further information can be found on the Careers page of the Max Planck Society.

Detailed information on local childcare facilities can be found on the institute’s intranet (for employees only).
