Research Groups

Georg Köhr Group

Signal transduction of NMDA receptors during synaptic transmission in the hippocampus; Homeostatic and input-specific plasticity in the hippocampus; Regulation of GABA release from cerebellar interneurons.

Rolf Sprengel Group

The textbook knowledge "AMPA receptors are just essential for the fast excitatory neurotransmission" was revolutionized by our gene targeted mice deficient for AMPA receptors containing the GluRA1 subunit.

Valery Grinevich Group

Stress contributes to a wide range of psychiatric and somatic disorders affecting tens of millions of lives. The main interests of our group are the central mechanisms of stress response.

Martin Schwarz Group

My group is interested in understanding the mechanisms involved in giving specificity to the wiring of the mammalian central nervous system. We currently pursue the role of protocadherin diversity in synaptogenesis and the development and utilization of molecular genetic methods to facilitate the elucidation and manipulation of neuronal circuits.

Mazahir T. Hasan Group

Optogenetic interrogation of cortical circuits engaged in sensory perception and experience-dependent plasticity
